Michigan Summer EBT is a program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Children who get Michigan Summer EBT can still participate in other summer meal programs.

Some families will get Summer EBT benefits automatically, but some families will need to apply. Families must meet the income and program requirements to be eligible. Applying for or receiving Summer EBT does not affect the immigration status of your children or family.


Who is eligible?

Your school-aged child, age 6 to 18, is eligible for Summer EBT if:

  • They were or are already receiving SNAP (food benefits), TANF (cash assistance), or Medicaid* anytime between [07/01/2024-08/31/2025]

  • Categorically eligible (Foster child, homeless, migrant, or a runaway)

  • Are approved for Free/Reduced price meals with their school due to direct certification or an approved school meal application**.

Some families eligible for Summer EBT don't need to apply and will receive benefits automatically.

What is the income limit?

Summer EBT income limit is 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. Your income must be less than or equal to the limit shown for your household size. Your household includes all adults and children in the home.

How do I apply for Summer EBT benefits?

You may apply online SOMPortal - MI Bridges . A paper application will be available soon. You must meet the income and program guidelines to be eligible. Only children enrolled in a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program can qualify through an application.
