Scott Maker

Vice President
smaker@lindenschools.org

Scott has lived in the Linden Community School district since 2001.  He moved to the area with his wife Jennifer, daughter Morgan (Class of 2011) and son Collin (Class of 2014). A longtime resident of the Flint area and graduate of Swartz Creek High School and the University of Michigan – Flint, he was drawn to the area for its small town atmosphere, the strong sense of community and excellent quality of education within the schools. He and his family found more than a place to live in Linden, they found a community where they were welcomed and could grow through their involvement in a variety of activities and opportunities, giving back to the community they call home.

A strong believer in service to others, his philosophy is that the greatest impact we can have on the course of our lives is being actively involved at the local level.  His desire to help ensure our children have access to the highest quality education led him to Linden’s Board of Education where he was first elected in 2008. In addition to his service to the District, Scott remains active in the community and supports our Eagle Athletes in various capacities including public address announcer. He is a combat veteran and recently retired from the U.S Marine Corps with the rank of Colonel after 30 years of service and manages security and protective services for a corporation in the Detroit area.

Katie O'Dell

Newly Elected-takes office in January

I have lived in Linden Community School District since 2017. My husband, three children, and myself relocated from central Illinois and have embraced Michigan as home. We were drawn to the small town feel and strong school reports on quality of education. In my free time I enjoy reading, baking, and spending time with family and friends. I have a bachelor’s in elementary education and a master’s in special education with a concentration in cognitive impairment. I currently work as a resource special education teacher in Hartland. I am always striving to do better for students and believe that Linden is fortunate to have incredible teachers. I am honored and thrilled to team with Linden schools to strengthen and grow opportunities for students while navigating ever changing policies and legislation.
